​Annette's passion for chocolate began when her Aunt Gloria brought some homemade chocolates to a family holiday many years ago. She was intrigued that she could actually make her own chocolates. Initially, she started making "turtles" and molding chocolates, but gave all to family and friends at the holidays. She enjoyed trying new recipes and experimenting with ingredients. People always loved what she did, and many encouraged her to pursue this fun-filled activity as a business. A passion was born, although at that time she did not think of it as a possible career path. Too much fun for a "job," let alone be a potential source of income! 

In 2017, she decided to turn her passion into a part-time cottage food business and East Coast Sweets was created.
